4. Non-cyclic Pyrrole Derivatives

4-1. Tripyrrinone

A treatment of NCP with Cu(OAc)2 in the prescence of O2, afforded tripyrrinone-Cu(II) complex by the removal of confused pyrrole. The tripyrrolic ligand coordinate several metal ions (Zn(II), Ni(II), Pd(II), Pt(II), Co(II)) (OL 2002, Inorg. Chem. Commun. 2003).

4-2. Picolynoylpyrrole

Picolynoylpyrrole, which is composed of pyrrole and pyridine moieties with a carbonyl linker, was synthesized as a new ligand. Picolynoylpyrrole behaves as a monovalent ligand to capture Pd(II) and Pt(II) as ML2 type complex (CL 2006). Furthermore picolynoylpyrrole form a complex with BF2 (BOPPY), which exhibit a fluoresence with large Stokes' shift (Chem. Phys. Lett. 2007).

4-3. 2,4-Ketopyrrole

Pyrroles with functional groups at 2- and 4-positions can form supramolecular structures in the solid state. For example, 4-benzoyl-2-pyrrolecarbaldehyde form a rod-type supramolecule by the intermolecular hydrogen bonding between pyrrole NH and a carbonyl CO group, and 1-tosyl-2,4-bis(hydroxymethyl)pyrrole construct an infinite 1D chain by the infinite OH-O hydrogen boding (Supramol. Chem. 2007).
