He received his PhD in 2005 from Tokyo Institute of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Takakazu Yamamoto. He then began postdoctoral research focusing on functional liquid-crystalline materials with Prof. Takashi Kato at the University of Tokyo. In 2008, he was appointed to an Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo. Currently, he is an Associate Professor, working in the group of Prof. Chihaya Adachi at Kyushu University. He is also a concurrent researcher of PRESTO, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). His research is directed towards the design, synthesis, and functionalization of \u03c0-conjugated molecular materials.\u00a0Current topics of research include their applications\u00a0to organic electronics devices.
